World Cup 2019 – Team Of The Tournament

Starting XI

GK: x Triplle – The man in net for a surprising Chilean side that has made a deep run into the Semi Finals despite being projected by most experts as an early knockout stage exit at best, was x Triplle. A tournament co-leader in clean sheets (5), including one in the Quarter-Finals and one in the Semi-Finals, to go along with 37 saves which were instrumental in his coronation as the premiere goalie of the World Cup tournament. This PCN veteran net-minder used his cat-like reflexes to make critical saves down the stretch earning him 1 MOTM in this international event. With an eye towards making a mark in Season 12, he will always have this TOTT award to look back on.

CB: Austin | 33 | – There were many great campaigns in this tournament by Center Defense-men, but the one turned in by the influential Austin | 33 | could not be denied the honor of TOTT. An offensive output of 2 assists and 4 key passes would be a decent midfield tournament resume alone. A defensive output of 22 interceptions and 12 tackles all but cemented his spot on this prestigious group of players that is the TOTT. He was heard celebrating boldly after his clubs World Cup victory. “Were the other teams even trying?” he shouted jokingly to his Seychelles teammates. There’s no shortage of confidence in this elite level talent, and it’s no secret that he draws from it to perform at the highest of levels wherever he goes.

CB: Lazo | 23 | – The Danish national squad managed a respectable top 6 finish in the World Cup tournament largely in part to the efforts of ace defender Lazo | 23 |. The back line anchor proved vital for the Danes. His 34 interceptions were tops among Defenders and with double digit Defensive Tackles he was an absolute shoe in for the honor of Team of The Tournament. With his first ever international honor to his name the sky’s the limit for this towering defensive talent as he emerges from the PCN ranks.

CB: eKsiSLe – The futbol champions of the world employed the defensive stalwart eKsiSLe to create an impregnable unit in front of net for the African nation. eKsiSLe came second among all defenders interceptions per game and helped Seychelles secure 5 Clean Sheets en route to the country’s first ever World Cup title. He was full of emotion as he held the Cup in his arms and when asked about his stellar tourney long performance he responded “In truth, the guys on the team made me look great, and they deserve the plaudits. Being able to play alongside the world’s best is something I have wanted to do my whole PCN career and now I have helped make us the 2019 World Cup champions. I could not be more proud”.

CDM: CM9 PT – With a 45/24 INT/TKL line, CM9 PT was top 3 in all key defensive statistics among all World Cup participants. Two MOTM selections speak to his value for a team that was able to reach the World Cup final. He has made serious waves at the international level and has proven his invaluable worth for both country and club. He was especially grateful towards his manager, cazbon, whom he said was “the first manager to hit me up and get me on his World Cup team”. Look for him to make animpact in season 12.

CDM: Jammmyy – Jammmyy will have to make some room in his already crowded trophy case. The highly decorated CDM was an absolute force with 57 interceptions and 32 tackles which led the entire tournament in both categories, additionally he pitched in a goal and 10 key passes demonstrating his ability as a formidable factor in transitional offense. The difference maker in at least 2 matches of the 12 Seychelles games, jammy was selected as the MOTM twice by his manager. With this achievement, Jammmyy has cemented his Superstar status in the PCN and in the best holding midfielder in Super League conversation. In an interview given at the reveal, Jammy humbly credited his compatriots claiming that “without [them] the award wouldn’t be possible”. Classy words from a world class footballer.

RM: Ham x69 – A six-season PCN veteran, Ham x69 did not skip a beat despite only playing 11 league games in Season 11. No stranger to successful tournament football, the former AFCON winner was the vital man in the midfield for his Chile side, as they made an impressive run to the World Cup Semi-Finals. While his stats may not jump off the page – 3 goals, 2 assists, 6 key passes and 19 interceptions in 8 games – we all know that a midfielders’ presence and value is often greater than his stat line. We can’t wait to see what Season 12 holds for this stalwart of the game, as his last full season saw him gain promotion and TOTS honors.

LM: Shmurddaa Pollo – The accolades continue to roll in for star-man and Player of the Tournament, Shmurddaa Pollo and it is not hard to see why. Playing left mid in a 3-5-2, the wide man produced a staggering 30 key passes in 12 games. To put that in perspective, only two players produced more than 15 key passes in the tournament. His 26 interceptions was also good enough to place him among the top 12 in the category. He also contributed 4 goals, 6 assists and 13 tackles in a true two-way wing back role. The 2x League Cup winner, 2x Super Cup winner and Royal Cup winner, can now add an International Tournament trophy to his resume.

CAM: BOSSARTILES2 – Leading all midfielders with three MOTM honors, BOSSARTILES2 was influential in helping Spain to the Round of 16, falling to the eventual winners. In 8 games he tallied 2 goals, 3 assists, 11 key passes and 16 interceptions, earmarking him as one of the tournaments top CAMs. His World Cup success comes on the back of a league season that saw him gain promotion to the Super League with Real Madrid, while being limited to just 11 appearances. His arrow is pointing up, and the PCN community will be eager to see how he kicks on from here.

ST: FIFA TALENTLESS – In contrast to his name, FIFA TALENTLESS displayed bags of talent on his way to World Cup glory. Let’s run it all down. Four MOTM honors, most in the tournament. 10 goals and 10 assists – tops in assists, third in goals, and the only player to tally double digits in both categories. 25 key passes, second most, and ten more than the next closest player. A prolific performance just by the numbers. A player with no shortage of honors in his PCN career, he can now boast an International tournament for the ages.

ST: You Dont Vape – They say “goals win games” and the Golden Boot winning performance of You Dont Vape saw his Seychelles side win it all. The mercurial striker scored 14 goals, and added 14 key passes, as a key part of an attacking juggernaut that took the tournament by storm. With this, his second World Cup trophy, he enters the elite company of only himself being the only person to have won the tournament on multiple occasions. He adds this to a storied PCN career, which has seen him secure four TOTS honors, across multiple leagues, as well as Manager of the Season honors.
