Team Of The Week – Week 5 – Season 8 – Super League

Starting XI

GK: Kermit Le Froge (Arsenal) – Kicking off our final TOTW for S8 in PCN is Arsenal’s steady pair of hands between the pipes in Kermit Le Froge. Kermit has continued to show his outstanding quality with another TOTW performance this season after collecting 40 saves, 3 clean sheets, allowing 5 just goals, and earning 3 MOTM awards in 7 games. It’s safe to say looking at the final SL standings and noticing the difference between PSG this season and last that Arsenal’s signing of the amphibian goalie following the Euros was one of the season’s most impactful transfers.

CB: Snowboarder 778 (PSG) – Speaking of PSG, where would the Parisians be this season if not for the efforts of their budding superstar defender Snowboarder 778. Snowboarder collects his 3rd TOTW of the season with an inspiring 14 passing points, 21 interceptions, 42 possessions won, 3 clean sheets, and 3 more MOTM awards in 6 GP during the final week of the season. One of the biggest questions this offseason will be once again whether stay high playa can convince one of his best players to stick around or will the lure of playing for a top-flight side convince Snowboarder to leave the French club.

CB: Slipkid2 (Schalke) – Finishing out the season very strong in mid table was Schalke 04, who were led once again by the efforts of center back Slipkid2. Slipkid didn’t slip under our radar as his 3 key passes, 16 interceptions, 43 possessions won, 3 clean sheets, and 2 MOTM earned his place in back-to-back TOTWs to close out the season. With a fine finish to the season after Roberto took over as manager, Schalke and Slipkid could be a team and player to look out for in S9.

CB: Will I 3 I (Manchester City) – Despite the team’s plummeting form at the end of the season costing them a spot in the Super Cup, Manchester City’s co-manager Will l 3 l can’t take too much of the blame. The outstanding center half closed out the season strong and made his case for his first ever TOTS selection with 1 assist, 3 key passes, 22 interceptions, 57 possessions won, and 4 clean sheets in his final 8 matches of S8. Rumored to be heading to North London to try and resurrect the relegated Tottenham in S9, Will has his work cut out for him to lift his new team back into the Super League in S9.

RM: zJig (Manchester United) – Flying under the radar for much of the season, zJig finally earned his first ever SL TOTW for Manchester United after being one of the standout wingers in all of D1 in S7. Jig was a key piece to an unstoppable Man U attack with 1 goal, 5 assists, 10 key passes, 18 passing points, and 23 possessions won over the final week. The Mancunians finished the season as strong as any team in the league and will be looking to close out their season with victories in the Royal and Super Cups with help from their in-form right winger zJig.

CDM: KingofKrak (Arsenal) – Another fine season from PCN veteran KingofKrak culminates in his 3rd TOTW of the season as he helped solidify Arsenal all season long. Krak gets a bit of stick from rival teams and players at times, but it’s hard to ignore his overall body of work with 1 goal, 14 tackles, 22 interceptions, 46 possessions won, and 3 clean sheets in his final 7 games of S8. Arsenal’s season is now over after they bowed out 1-0 over two legs to Juventus in the Super Cup quarterfinals, but Krak and the rest of his teammates can hold their heads high with a 5th place finish and PCN Cup title.

CDM: JaysWays (Orlando Pirates) – We here at PCN are pretty sure there is a cloning facility hard at work in South Africa as JaysWays backed up his manager jway’s faith with a TOTW performance to close out S8. Jays was a huge part of the Orlando title push that resulted in a final day clinching 3-0 victory over River Plate with 16 passing points, 25 interceptions, 47 possessions won, and 2 clean sheets in his last 6 GP. Celebrations have continued in Johannesburg all week long after Jays and his teammates completed their amazing turn around and brought the title home.

LM: flannyreaper5 (Manchester United) – Lining up on the opposite wing to his teammate zJig is flannyreaper5 who makes his first TOTW appearance of S8 after making last season’s TOTS. Flanny may have not had quite the dominant season he had in S7, but he finished with a bang highlighted by his 4 goals, 2 assists, 15 key passes, 13 interceptions, and 2 MOTM awards in 7 matches. Flanny isn’t likely to grab another TOTS this season, but he also wasn’t too far off and has proven himself to be one of the best true wingers in PCN over the past two campaigns.

CAM: Taco Bale (Orlando Pirates) – The second member of Orlando to feature in our last TOTW for this season is Taco Bale, who returns to the squad after earning his first TOTW all the way back at the start of the season. Bale was a machine all season and closed out strong with 4 goals, 3 assists, 5 key passes, 10 passing points, and 25 possessions won over the final three gamedays of S8. Bale will surely be looking to defend his title in S9 with the rest of his South African teammates after a well-earned break before FIFA 19 drops.

ST: Magic I 10 I (Manchester United) – The hottest player in PCN has continued to clown defenses as our Player of the Week goes to Man United’s Magic l 10 l. Magic has continued his sorcery up at the top of the attack for the English club with 13 goals, 8 assists, 19 key passes, 28 possessions won, and 3 MOTM in his final 7 GP as he earns a 4th consecutive TOTW honor. Magic took his game to the next level this season after two solid campaigns to begin his PCN career and looks to be a shoo-in to take home his first TOTS honor.

ST: Bgod43rd (Manchester United) – Not to be too overlooked by his manager and strike partner, Man U’s Bgod43rd was outstanding in his own right at the end of the season. Bgod matched Magic nearly stat for stat with 14 goals, 8 assists, 14 key passes, 15 passing points, and 2 MOTM as the Dwight Yorke to Magic’s Andy Cole. Bgod may not have been the most talked about striker all season long with several attackers showing their merit, but Bgod finished with 40 goals himself and will be looking to make sure he isn’t overlooked much longer in S9.

BENCH

GK: juancholo33 (Schalke) – Leading our bench from the back is another key to Schalke’s strong finish to the season in emerging goalie juancholo33. Juancholo has put himself on the map with a few weeks of outstanding play, finishing S8 with 46 saves, 3 clean sheets, 7 goals allowed, and 2 MOTM in 7 games.

CB: Matias7 (Juventus) – Juventus may not have claimed a 4th consecutive Super League crown this season, but Matias7 did his part to make sure the Italian club finished the season first amongst team goals allowed in S8. Matias was his usual steady self and earned back-to-back TOTWs with 16 interceptions, 37 possessions won, and 4 clean sheets in the final week of S8.

RB: AkumaM1K3H4WK (Schalke) – Our final member of the Schalke defensive trio is relative unknown right back AkumaM1K3H4WK. Akuma’s inclusion may surprise some in PCN, but his 22 passing points, 14 interceptions, 33 possessions won, and 3 clean sheets in 6 matches shows exactly why he has earned his first career PCN TOTW.

CDM: TheJuggman22 (Manchester United) – One of the unheralded pieces of the fantastic Man United squad all season was their defensive lynchpin TheJuggman22. Operating as a solo DM in a 41212 wide, Jugg has a lot of responsibility in how the Manchester side operate and his 1 assist, 18 passing points, 14 tackles, 15 interceptions, and 4 clean sheets show exactly how well he has been able to do that this season.

LM: CF I Pete (Arsenal) – After barely missing out on several TOTWs throughout the season, CF l Pete left us no choice but to include him after his fantastic run to end S8. Pete is part of a devilish attacking mid trio that includes sf Batistuta and DK l Gaston, but he beat his teammates to a spot in the squad this week with 3 goals, 5 assists, 15 key passes, and 22 passing points in 7 GP.

ST: Criminal Lazer (Orlando Pirates) – Who else could round out our final TOTW of S8 but the two strikers who helped Orlando finish the deal and win the S8 Super League trophy, starting with Criminal Lazer. Lazer was a beast all season and scored twice in the final match against River Plate with his final week’s tally of 7 goals, 5 assists, 6 key passes, and 12 passing points earning him his 3rd TOTW of the season.

ST: Evo 21x (Orlando Pirates) – Last but not least is the man who carved up River Plate’s vaunted defense and brought the title home for Orlando in Evo 21x. Evo’s 3 assists in the final match will haunt Vape, QIK, and Phil for seasons to come, and his total of 6 goals, 6 assists, 8 key passes, and 2 MOTM in his final 5 games of S8 were invaluable to the ultimate success of his team.
