Team Of The Week – Week 2 – Season 14 – League Two

Starting XI

GK: II Jokerx II (Leicester City): Being the busiest keeper in League Two is not an easy task, but Joker has kept his Leicester City team in more than one game the past two weeks. Making 37 saves, and completing 28 out of his 38 passes, the Leicester keeper is doing everything in his power to allow his side to make a late season push for playoff contention.

RB: UniqueXShots (Racing Club): Helping his second place side Racing Club keep three clean sheets last week, UniqueXShots has had himself a solid past six games. Posting an astounding 93% passing percentage from the Right Back position, with 34 possessions won, and 22 interventions. Should Racing maintain their possession in the table and gain automatic promotion to League One, UniqueXShots will have a lot to do with it.

CB: DANTHEMAN390 (West Ham United): DANTHEMAN has in fact been the man for the side residing in East London, putting up some quality performances for the Hammers. In his last seven matches he has been a brick wall for his side, picking up 19 interceptions, 17 headers won, and 4 clean sheets. He even managed to pick himself up 1 key pass and 1 assist, showing that he can be an important player in dead ball situations.

CB: loveburgher (Santa Clara): Leading Santa Clara’s defensive line, loveburgher has been one of the Azoreans’ best players so far this campaign. In his last 7 games he has been an absolute unit, picking up 27 possessions won, 16 interceptions, and 5 clean sheets. He also led all defenders during this time in PER with an insane 20.8.

LB: xperuclutch (Athletic Bilbao): Slotting in at left back, xPeruclutch has been nothing short of clutch for Athletic Bilbao as they have enjoyed a rather successful season to date in the league. Playing 8 games during this TOTW cycle, Peru earned himself 15 tackles, 24 interceptions, 39 possessions won, and 3 clean sheets. He even earned one key pass to put the cherry on top of a marvelous set of outings for Athletic Bilbao.

CDM: FCP x Fabe (Braga): The first Braga lad to earn himself a TOTW selection is a Porto fan, definitely no conflict of interests here. Anyways, Fabe has been one of Braga’s best performers over the last few game days, ultimately earning him a starting spot in this XI. In his last 7, Fabe picked up 2 assists, 23 tackles, 31 interceptions, and 45 possessions won. Is a TOTS selection on the cards if he keeps this form up? Only time will tell.

CDM: ironpatriot4524 (Toronto FC): Speaking of conflict of interests, we have a patriot playing for a Canadian side. Jokes aside, IronPatriot has been great for a Toronto side that is starting to find it’s feet in League Two. In his last 8 matches, IronPatriot has gotten 20 tackles, 26 interceptions, 41 possessions won, and 3 clean sheets.

LAM: Flatdiamond09 (Leicester City): Out wide for the Foxes is none other than Flatdiamond09. The Leicester loanee is showing exactly why Panic brought him in, as his dynamic play is leading the way for a side who could potentially fight for playoffs by the end of the season. In his last 8 outings, Flat led all attacking mids in goal contributions, scoring 5 and assisting 4 respectively. During this time, he also earned 9 key passes, 14 interceptions, and just one Man of the Match award. He also led all attacking mids in PER with a 20.41.

RAM: XxbragablazexX (Braga): We head back to Braga for none other than bragablaze. The Braga man has been on an absolute tear for “Os Arcebispos” as they look to return to League One. He led all attacking mids in assists during the last 4 match days, picking up 5 assists in 8 matches. He also added 2 goals, 10 key passes, 17 possessions won, and was second for attacking mids in PER with a 19.5, just behind Flatdiamond.

ST: Samstaticc (Toronto FC) – POTW: Our Player of the Week this week is Toronto’s talisman, SamStaticc. The forward has been an absolute godsend for the Reds as they push for their return to League One after being retired from PCN many seasons ago. In his last 8 outings, Sam scored 7 goals with 17 shots on target. He also led all strikers in assists as he earned 5 during this time. Other key stats to highlight are his 11 key passes, 1 Man of the Match award, and a league leading PER for strikers as he boasted a 24.68.

ST: XPancakeWaffleX (Toronto FC): Sam’s partner in crime, XpancakewaffleX has been just as prolific as his partner as he is also in this week’s TOTW. This dynamic duo has the potential to be special in League Two if they can manage to keep this form going. Going back to pancake, he managed to score 6 goals and also picked up 5 assists, tying his teammate. He also added on 10 key passes and 3 Man of the Match awards. Watch out for him and Sam as the season progresses.

BENCH

GK: YouTubeJBR (Celtic): Starting off the bench for the second edition of the League Two TOTW is the only Celtic player with an appearance, YouTubeJBR. The Celtic goalkeeper has been crucial in Celtic’s rise to the top of the table, as the shot stopper has been consistently shutting out his opposition to ensure points for his side. In 7 games played YoutubeJBR has managed to make 21 saves to go along with 4 clean sheets (T-2nd), 5 goals conceded (2nd), and a 16.97 PER.

CB: Papaseco16 (Santa Clara): Another Santa Clara defender to feature in this TOTW is their centerback, Papaseco16. True to his name, Papaseco16 has been absolutely delicious on the pitch for the Azorean side, as he has formed a formidable pairing alongside his partner loveburgher, a partnership in which no attacking side in league two looks forward to playing against. In 7 games for Santa Clara, Papaseco16 accumulated 3 tackles, 18 interceptions (3rd), and 24 possessions won, accompanied by 5 clean sheets (1st), 5 goals against (1st), and a PER of 18.31

CDM: Xrif Meloj10 (Santa Clara): Making a TOTW appearance is yet another defensive player from Santa Clara, Xrif Meloj10. Santa Clara was arguably the best defensive side in League Two in this TOTW period and it is no surprise, as Xrif Meloj10 has been superb at the heart of midfield for Santa Clara, as the midfielder showcased his versatility with impressive displays in both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. In 7 appearances Xrif Meloj10 picked up 1 assist, 5 key passes (T-2nd), 9 tackes, 21 interceptions, 31 possessions won, 2 MOTM awards, 5 clean sheets (1st), and the 2nd highest PER of all CDMs in league two with 19.31

CM: Unisolated (West Ham United): Lining up in the CM spot is West Ham manager, Unisolated. With West Ham looking to secure a playoff spot to battle for promotion, Unisolated has done his best to ensure he is inspiring his team both on and off the pitch, as West Ham’s manager has been sensational for the London side. With West Ham currently sitting on the last playoff position in 7th, they will need their inform manager to keep up his excellent play if they are to find themselves in League One next season. In 8 games Unisolated managed to bag 6 goals (T-1st), alongside 1 assist, 3 key passes, and a 16.96 PER.

ST: VELOXXCIII (RB Leipzig): The sole standout from RB Leipzig in this TOTW edition is their striker, VELOXXCIII. Despite RB Leipzig’s poor form VELOXXCIII has managed to establish himself as one of League Two deadliest strikers in this TOTW period, burying goals with ease due to his clinical finishing and composure in the box. His standout play has caught the eyes of many and even earned him a move to League One side Real Sociedad, as VELOXXCIII looks eager to prove his ability against tougher competition. VELOXXCIII finished this TOTW period with 8 goals (T-1st), 1 assist, 2 key passes, 2 MOTM awards, and a PER of 19.12 in 7 games.

ST: xbigpoppaperk (Schalke 04): Finishing out the second edition of the League Two TOTW for S14 is Schalke striker, xbigpoppaperk. The Schalke forward has been the vital component to his side’s offense all season, as he has more than double the goals of the second leading goalscorer at Schalke and is third in goal scored overall in League Two at the time of writing. It is obvious that xbigpoppaperk has a nose for goals that few others can match, as Schalke’s offensive talisman puts up an impressive statline in this TOTW period. In 7 games for Schalke xbigpoppaperk put up 8 goals (T-1st), 1 assist, and 6 key passes, alongside 1 MOTM award and a PER of 22.09 (3rd).
