Team Of The Season – Season 7 – Super League
Starting XI
GK: Phil The Fish (Juventus) – Leading off our Super League TOTS for S7 is a familiar face as Juventus’ Phil The Fish is the starting GK for the second straight season. Phil’s efforts in net helped lead Juventus to its 3rd consecutive title where Phil set the GK clean sheet record with 14 and also had 16 PP, 112 SV, 2 MOTM, and only 26 GA in 28 GP. With rumors of some players at Juve going their separate ways for S8, it will be fascinating to see where Phil ends up and if he leaves who can attempt to replace the aquatic beast.
CB: Jigsaw (AC Milan) – Returning to the TOTS after earning a spot in the first D1 version as manager of Napoli in S5 is AC Milan’s centerback and resident saw expert Jigsaw. Jigsaw was a steady anchor to the Milan backline as he got “Jiggy wit it” all season as is evidenced by his 7 KP, 64 PP, 60 INT, 130 PW, 11 CS (T-3rd), and 2 MOTM over the course of his 26 games. Jigsaw has certainly established himself as one of the premier defenders in PCN after two TOTS selections in three seasons with a fine campaign for Dortmund in between.
CB: QIK (Dortmund / Manchester City) – There was only ever really one choice for who would slot in next to Jigsaw at the heart of the TOTS defense – Manchester City’s QIK. QIK did spend the first 2/3 of his season with Dortmund, but it didn’t matter where he was to PCN strikers as he played all 30 games and put up a huge stat line of 6 KP, 71 PP, 96 INT (1st), 179 PW (2nd), 11 CS (T-3rd), and 7 MOTM (1st among defenders). With consecutive TOTS appearances and a good shot at winning another Defender of the Season award, the only thing left for QIK to accomplish in PCN is to start winning some team silverware.
CB: Matias7 (Juventus) – Rounding out the starting backline for the Team of the Season is one of the two stalwarts in the center of the Juve backline – Matias7. Matias was one of the most consistent defenders in the league and was a big part of the Juventus title campaign with his 2 A, 53 INT, 135 PW, 74 PP, and league-leading 13 CS in 28 GP. Matias emerged in S6 as one of the main defenders for the Italian giants and only improved on that with a fantastic S7 and a spot in his first ever TOTS.
CDM: Rambo De Leon x (Manchester City) – Probably the easiest choice in the entire team, Man City’s Rambo De Leon x had a debut PCN season unlike that which has ever been seen previously. Rambo took his big guns out on the opposition all season long as he set new PCN records for tackles (93) and possession won (207) as well as adding 9 A, 37 KP, 53 PP, 76 INT, 6 CS, and 6 MOTM in 28 matches. With City spending almost the entirety of S7 in midtable purgatory, Rambo will certainly be in high demand and it will be a shock to see the midfield master return to Manchester for another season.
CDM: dorseyfurcal18 (AC Milan) – Returning for his 3rd TOTS appearance after narrowly missing the cut in S6 is Milan’s main man dorseyfurcal18. Daddy Dorsinator returned to his AC Milan roots after a season away in Dortmund and did a bit of everything from the center of the park with 6 G, 5 A, 62 PP, 46 DT (2nd), 71 INT, 138 PW, 5 CS, and 4 MOTM in 25 games. With the eminent breakup of Milan after the Super Cup following a 3rd consecutive SL runner up finish, it seems Dorsey will have to find a new home to bring his bruising and relentless style to in his quest to win a league title.
RM: ThatCreamCheese (Lyon) – PCN veteran ThatCreamCheese finally had his breakthrough season for Lyon and earned his first TOTS selection. One style of cream cheese that certainly isn’t extra soft, TCC was a key part of the French attack that finished T-3rd in goals during S7 with his 12 G, 10 A, 37 KP, 40 INT, 103 PW, and 8 MOTM (T-3rd) in 30 matches. Cream may be on the move once again after a fine campaign in the South of France, but this time it will be hard for teams in need of a talented winger to overlook him.
LM: flannyreaper5 (Arsenal) – Making his first ever TOTS after an incredibly impressive campaign for Arsenal is left winger extraordinaire flannyreaper5. Flanny was a creative dynamo from the first week to the last as he set a new PCN record with 60 key passes while also collecting 7 G, 13 A, 49 INT, 132 PW, and 4 MOTM in 30 GP for the North London club. Flanny will no longer be a hidden gem after his displays this season, and fullbacks around the league will be buying bandages and casts in preparation of another season of getting burned down the wing in S8.
CAM: DK I Gaston (Bayern Munich) – Another player making his PCN TOTS debut is Bayern’s midfield maestro DK I Gaston. Gaston was one of the key parts of the Super League’s best attack (85 goals) as he helped the Bavarians out with an astounding 22 G, 15 A (2nd), 49 KP (2nd), 77 PW, and 2 MOTM in just 21 games. After helping Bayern out to another Top 4 finish, will S8 finally be the season Gaston and his German teammates can break through from very good to great?
ST: Erick I 9 I (Lyon) – Returning to the TOTS for a second consecutive season is the S7 Golden Boot winner in Erick I 9 I from Lyon. Erick is certainly a name brand in PCN now after another great season in attack with 33 G (1st), 9 A, 25 KP, 61 PP, and 9 MOTM (2nd) in a full slate of 30 matches. With two TOTS selections and a Golden Boot in his case at home now, surely Erick will be looking for the best opportunity to win silverware in S8.
ST: lupexx49 (PSG) – A huge season from lupexx49 earned him his first TOTS since S4 after he followed up his TOTY selection in January with his biggest ever league goal tally. Lupe kicked, pushed, and coasted his way to a gaudy line of 31 G (2nd), 12 A, 21 KP, 71 PP, 85 PW, and 8 MOTM (T-3rd) over 28 games in his S7 campaign. After seasons of finishing outside the Top 3, PSG finally made its way in with an impressive 3rd place finish this season – could S8 be the one for Lupe and his PSG teammates to push on and finally win it all?
BENCH
GK: A Lil Brazilian (Manchester City / Lyon) – Backing up Phil The Fish after a breakout season split between Manchester City and Lyon is the shotstopping force known as A Lil Brazilian. Finally given a full season in net, all Brazil did was set a new PCN record with 193 saves while also adding 18 PP, 5 CS, 5 MOTM, and conceding 50 in 30 GP.
RB: Gato Bravo9 (Juventus) – Once again one of the most underrated parts of the title winning team, Gato Bravo9 repeats his TOTS selection from last year in S7. Gato is truly “The Cat’s Meow” when it comes to fullbacks in PCN as can be seen by his 3 A, 10 KP, 29 DT, 31 INT, 106 PW, and 8 CS for the dominating Italian side in only 23 games.
LB: You Dont Vape (AC Milan) – The final defender in the TOTS is perhaps a bit of a surprise to some, but AC Milan’s You Dont Vape earned his keeps with a fine S7. Despite having very little experience in defense prior to this season, Vape channeled his inner Love Welty from S5 by adapting to the LB role at Milan with ease and posting a well-rounded line of 8 KP, 71 PP, 27 DT, 45 INT, 137 PW, and 9 CS in 27 matches.
CDM: Fencing Guy93 (PSG) – Perhaps the most out-of-the-blue TOTS selection from an outsider’s perspective, Fencing Guy93 more than earned his spot as he solidified PSG’s defense in S7. Fencing was a terror to attackers all season with his 3 A, 7 KP, 42 DT, 79 INT (T-2nd), 157 PW (3rd), 5 CS, and 2 MOTM over his 27 games.
CM: Cozy Bryant (AC Milan) – Cozy Bryant will end his impressive Milan career with a very deserved TOTS selection after holding it down at CM for the Italians in S7. The only member of Milan to play from S4 through S7 without ever leaving, Big Bozy Brand balled out this season with 5 G, 3 A, 19 KP, 44 PP, 28 DT, 56 INT, 109 PW, and 3 MOTM in his final 23 matches as a member of the Rossoneri.
ST: sF Batistuta (Bayern Munich) – Finally earning a well-deserved TOTS pick is Bayern manager and attacking genius sF Batistuta. Bati did his namesake proud with a S7 that saw him lead the league and tie the assist record with 23 dimes, not to mention his 21 G, 45 KP (3rd), 38 PP, and 7 MOTM for the German side in 25 GP.
ST: I ITALIAN0 I (Juventus) – Finishing off the S7 Team of the Season is another familiar face as Juve’s I ITALIAN0 I collects his 3rd consecutive TOTS honor to go along with his 3rd consecutive league title. ITALIAN0 didn’t quite match his record 37 goals from a season ago, but he was still incredible during his 28 games with 27 G, 12 A, 25 KP, 53 PP, 91 PW, and 6 MOTM.
